Districts wrapped up this weekend for both our boys and girls teams, and if there’s one word for this group, it’s tough. Maddy Baker is moving on to regionals with a 4th place finish, and we couldn’t be more proud. She earned every bit of it and we’re excited to see her represent our community another week. A lot of our kids were right there. Casen Plummer picked up a gritty win but came up short of advancing. Chastelyn Cortez and Nickya Fort both fought their way to multiple wins and ended one match away from regionals, and Ydali Castillo battled hard all day in a tough weight class. All three girls just finished their first full wrestling season, and the improvement from the beginning of the year has been huge. Ulysses Perez-Martinez picked up some big wins but fell short of regionals in his senior season. He’s been a steady leader for this group and the kind of kid every small-town program is proud to have. Tough, dependable, and all heart. For most of these athletes, this is where the season ends. The record book won’t show all the early mornings, hard practices, and battles they pushed through, but this community sees it. Proud of this group and proud of the way they represented our school this season.
